Homeland Tyes

Our Start

The founders of Homeland Tyes have been influenced by Irish culture throughout their lives. We grew up in a small Minnesota town with a heavy Irish influence of tradition, family, spirituality, laughter, hardship and celebration. Those core values have impacted our lives and families in many ways and made us grateful for their influence. That gratitude makes us want to pay it forward.

We are also heavily influenced by the connections between Ireland and the Choctaw Nation in the United States. That story is told on this website. It makes us realize we are all at some time emigrants and immigrants and should help our “fellow families” in their time of need. The Ireland/Choctaw story is inspiring to us, and we hope to you. We hope it enlightens your view of the constant struggle for all people to provide for their families and improve their lives.

What We Are About

Homeland Tyes is a Minnesota non-profit organization that was incorporated in January of 2025. We are a membership-based group whose revenues come from dues, grants, merchandise sales and donations. Our officers and staff are all volunteers.

Since 1820 over 6 million people from Ireland have emigrated to the United States. Our mission is to thank Ireland for these inherited riches by identifying and completing “repayment projects” in The Republic of Ireland. Our intent is to have these activities enhance housing conditions, reduce food insecurities in underserved communities and rehabilitate selected cultural sites, including Holy Wells throughout the country.

Starting in 2025 and continuing for the next three years we will rent properties to establish our Ireland office and have lodging for our volunteer projects. By November of 2027, we plan to have a permanent location(s) in Ireland that will be sufficient for office and storage facilities and provide ongoing lodging for our future volunteers.

Possible Appearances 2025
St. Patrick’s Day Parade, St. Paul, MN March 17TH 2025
Iowa Irish Fest, August 1-3, 2025
Irish Fair of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN. August 8-10, 2025

Financials

The organization’s bank account will be posted each quarter starting in September 2025. Our plans are to recruit about 200-300 volunteers and have sufficient funds to schedule 20-30 projects for the summer of 2026.
